KCSE ENGLISH PP1 POETRY

 

The following are some of the possible questions one may be asked to respond to in an exam.

 

(i)       Identify and explain any two features that would make a poem easy to recite.                     

(ii)      Describe the rhyme scheme of a poem.                                                                       

(iii)     In an oral performance of a poem, how would you say the given line?                                           

 

 

NOTES REGARDING PP1 POETRY QUESTION

 

1.     Pp1 is basically oral poetry: reciting, sound features and how to perform.

2.     No comprehension.

3.     Rarely is anything asked about the meaning of the poem

4.     Questions are restricted to performance: features of performance in the poem, skill of performer e.g. verbal cues and non verbal cues and others

5.     The questions are quite brief and direct: therefore stock answers can do as long as they’re differentiated by way of illustration that is specific from, and for, the poem given; a mandatory task then!

READING HABITS TO AVOID

  Reading Habits : The best practices for effective private reading are to place your text about a feet away and read phrases rather than words, silently .
